Tehran carpet museum (موزه فرش تهران ) is one of the best places recommended to visit during your stay in Tehran . its located in city center next to the Laleh Park . It is a two level building and the exterior style is inspired of a carpet loom . The museum opened in 1978 by the Iranian queen – Farah Pahlavi . The Pazyryk Carpet which is the oldest ever carpet discovered ( 500 BC ) is been exhibited in the first floor . This carpet has been found in Siberia in 1949 & is a proof that carpet weaving has a history in Iran more than at least 2500 years. There is also a library about carpet with more than 3500 books for the public to get as much as information about carpet , Rug , Kilim etc .
Carpet weaving in Iran has many different styles. For example Kashan carpets are different in style than the ones from Tabriz. handmade carpets are valuable artworks & we recommend you to please visit our carpet page for more information about this very special art – industry of Iran .
